Both at Idlewild Park, Reno

Important Facts

Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation will offer the Student Stewards camp during Spring Break! This camp is an extension of our Student Stewards Program, in which we turn local parks into learning laboratories where students are able to connect with the natural world and appreciate science.

The Student Stewards Spring Break Camp is a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), standards-based option for school vacation.

The Student Stewards Spring Break Camp is open to 8-13 year olds in the Reno/Sparks area.

Why?

According to Peter Scales and the American Camp Association, "Camp is one of the few institutions where young people can experience and satisfy their need for physical activity, creative expression and true participation in a community environment. Most schools don't satisfy all these needs."

There is a projected 14% increase in STEM-related jobs, but only 16% of high school students are proficient in STEM subjects. With our STEAM, standards-based curriculum at the Student Stewards Spring Break Camp, students will be better prepared for high school and beyond!
