About Our Science Camps

Join Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation for exciting outdoor adventures as we turn our local parks into learning laboratories! During Spring Break, we offer two weeks of our Student Stewards Camp, an extension of our Student Stewards Program. Connect to the natural world through outdoor exploration, hands-on activities, experiments, games, crafts, and more!

The Student Stewards Spring Break Camp is a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics), standards-based option for school vacation.

Welcome to NV: Our Wacky Weather

You're sure to get blown away at this week of Spring Break Camp! Living in NV, we know that weather can be weird and surprising and seem to change in the blink of an eye. So join us this week to discover what's behind of the wild weather of our area and beyond!

All Creatures Great and Small: Spring into Baby Animals

March 23rd - 27th

It's Spring, which for many animals means babies! But not all baby animals are the same--so come investigate everything from spiderlings to kittens to nymphs to chicks as we explore the challenges that baby animals face growing up in the wild.

Why Spring Break Camp?

According to Peter Scales and the American Camp Association, "Camp is one of the few institutions where young people can experience and satisfy their need for physical activity, creative expression and true participation in a community environment. Most schools don't satisfy all these needs."

There is a projected 14% increase in STEM-related jobs, but only 16% of high school students are proficient in STEM subjects. With our STEAM, standards-based curriculum at the Student Stewards Spring Break Camp, students will be better prepared for high school and beyond!
