Student Stewards Summer Camp FAQs

Students between the ages of 8 - 13 are eligible to attend.

How many kids are at camp each week?

Each week, the Student Stewards Summer Camp will have 50 available spots for students. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. Keeping our camp small will ensure that each student is given individualized attention, care, and guidance that they need.

What are the dates of the camps?

Camp will run between the dates of Monday, June 10th to Friday, August 9th. Each of the nine weeks of camp will have a different theme and focus.

What time does camp start and end?

Camp begins at 9 am and ends at 4 pm. Students can be picked up and dropped off at the Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation office, located in Idlewild Park at 50 Cowan Drive, Reno.

Extended hours (8am-5:30 pm) are available for an additional $20/week. Please be aware, if parents/guardians are late to pick-up students (later than 5:30 pm), there will be a $10 fee.

What forms do I need to fill out?

In addition to the general registration questions, you may need to fill out one additional form:

Medical Administration Form: this form will need to be filled out if your student is on medication and will be taking it during camp. This will require a doctor’s signature on the form, turned in on the first day of camp.
You can access this form here. In addition, the form will be emailed to you if you indicate the need for medication on your registration form. Contact Devin ( or 775-360-6068) if you have any questions, or if you do not receive this form two days after registration is complete.

What does a typical day at camp look like?

Camp will start at 9 am. In the mornings, we will focus on experiments and activities in small groups. We will have a recreational break mid-morning to ensure students are up and moving. After lunch, we will have some free time to read, do arts ‘n’ crafts, and play games. We will also have large group activities in the afternoon, as well as go on hikes, explore the park, and complete group experiments and activities related to the week’s theme. Camp ends at 4 pm each day, and parents will need to sign their students out before heading home.
