SUPPORT THE PROJECT

PROJECT VISION

The vision of the Rosewood Nature Study Area project is to establish and steward a publicly accessible Great Basin wetland habitat where the community can come to learn about and appreciate the importance of our natural open spaces and local parks.

THE STORY

Since the construction of Veterans Parkway and closure of the Rosewood Lakes Golf Course, the property has become neglected and invasive weed species have proliferated the area.

In 2021, the City of Reno agreed to provide Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation with up to a 50-year lease agreement. This enabled the Parks Foundation to launch a multi-year, multi-phase capital campaign to transform the run-down golf course into a historic marshland habitat which will include the region's only state-of-the-art nature center.

On June 12th, 2021 the site, now known as the Rosewood Nature Study Area, was officially opened to the public.

THE CAMPAIGN

The Acres of Innovation Capital Campaign will raise funds to improve this essential habitat for our region’s native wildlife and provide areas for Washoe County school children and all community members to experience nature and learn about the natural and cultural history of the Truckee Meadows.

Donate today to make a lasting impact in the Truckee Meadows.
