Programs & Events

Our park-based programs are designed to raise awareness and appreciation of park resources with the goal of increasing a sense of ownership of these vital public spaces. Our programs fall under the Healthy Parks Healthy People: Truckee Meadows initiative. The premise of this idea is that there is a direct relationship between the health of our parks and the health of community.

Truckee Meadows Trails Challenge

Register for the Trails Challenge to access monthly 2-4 mile guided hikes. Challenge yourself and see how many miles you can complete this year!

Discover Your Parks Walks

Free and open to the public, these 1 mile interpretive walks take place Thursday evenings from April through September. Join us to explore the area's parks and open spaces!

Dementia Friendly Nature Walks

These walks occur every Tuesday morning at Idlewild Park. They are an opportunity for participants to experience the changes of plants throughout the seasons.

Junior Naturalists Passport Program

This event takes place every 3rd Saturday of the month. It is a free, temporarily virtual program for children of all ages that brings new outdoor adventures directly to your living room.

Student Stewards Program

This program of nature-oriented science education includes hands-on community science programs in the classroom and on exploratory field trips to local, accessible parks.

Thats not all! Check out the rest of our site to see Special Programs or to learn more about how you can get involved with the Rephotography Program!
