Peavine Pete
Meet the latest member of the Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation, Peavine Pete! This Desert Tortoise (Gopherus agassizii) typically inhabits the deserts of Southern Nevada, but TMPF welcomed him into their family after his adoption from the Northern Nevada Tortoise Group. Now, Peavine Pete enjoys his new home in Northern Nevada!
Biodiversity
The intricate web of life in wetlands contributes to essential ecological functions, such as nutrient cycling and flood control. Additionally, wetlands serve as vital breeding and feeding grounds for numerous species, including migratory birds.
Stewardship
Wetlands act as natural sponges, absorbing and filtering water, thereby enhancing water quality. These ecosystems also provide critical habitats for a diverse array of plant and animal species! Wetland restoration projects help counteract the adverse effects of human activities.
