Ivan Sack

Ivan Sack was born in Alamosa, Colorado in 1908 and earned a degree in Foresty from Iowa State University in 1933. Mr. Sack worked for the U.S. Forest Service in California, Colorado, and Utah as well as served in the U.S. Navy during World War II before coming to Nevada. Once in Nevada, he became a Forest Supervisor at Toiyabe National Forest and a part-time lecturer at the University of Nevada, Reno. He retired in 1965 from the Forest Service but continued working at the University for years after. In addition, he was the Reno Park Superintendent from 1967 to 1971 plus served on numerous boards and commissions during his retirement.

Ivan Sack Papers

A collection of articles, reports, photographs, a manuscript, and Forest Service daily diaries was donated by Ivan Sack to the University of Nevada, Reno in 1978. The collection includes books, brochures, and maps and is still held at the University as part of their Special Collections Department.
